In Jesus Christ: God's Love Made Visible the students encounter Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity. This course leads the students toward a deeper understanding of Divine Revelation, the Trinity, the Incarnation, Jesus, salvation, and discipleship as a response to God's love. The second edition of our popular Living In Christ series offers updated navigation, organizing and synchronizing curriculum across both teacher guides and student books. The student books have shifted from a section-part-article structure to a unit-chapter-article structure where sections become units and a part is now a chapter.

The necessity for inculturation in theology today, cannot be overstressed. It is absolutely necessary if the Church is to be in the position to offer to all peoples the mystery of salvation and the fullness of life brought by God in Christ. Inculturation demands that the revelation takes root in the culture in order to become part and parcel of the people's life pattern and to be in turn enriched by the cultural values of the people. Although the fullness of revelation took place in time, space, and culture, it is not exclusively tied up to any particular culture, race or time. Revelation cuts across all boundaries, and it is open to receive all and be received by all cultures. As the life of the Church is seen in the liturgy, the tasks facing liturgy today are quite enormous. Liturgy must seek authentic means of creating a worshipping community through the celebration of the mysteries of Christ: the Eucharist, the Sacraments, Liturgy of the hours and Sacramentals. As a holy people of God, the faithful are entitled to a liturgy that is at their disposition. They need to understand what they celebrate and participate actively in it. They require as a matter of necessity a liturgy that transforms the inner realities of their being and the entire humanity. The process of achieving this great goal constitutes the main bulk of this work. In effect, this book contains a representation of some cultural reactions to and enrichment of the reformed liturgy of the Second Vatican Council en route in Africa

The study presented in this volume considers an essential topic of revealed truth, namely the Holy Spirit's role in the Paschal Mystery. Theological research has been particularly concerned with this question in recent years, endeavouring more and more to clarify and define the relations between Christ and the Holy Spirit, emphasizing the Spirit's action in the life and mission of the Savior. J. Anderson considers this theme within a very precise framework: that of the Second Vatican Council, Ad Gentes I, 2-5, . The conciliar text is brief but full of meaning and this merits a thorough examination. This is the first time that a systematic study is presented to us on the subject of this text. It is carried out with great care. The author retraces in detail the different stages of the text's redaction, and notes the corrections which have been conserved, but also the recollections and notes of those who collaborated in the redaction. He has taken the trouble to consult personally several of these collaborators. It is this consultation that helps to give a great value to his study. The work includes valuable information which no future study of the conciliar Decree can afford to overlook. By concentrating on an analysis of the text, the author determines the elements of a pneumatology in conjunction with the Pascal Mystery. He thus provides a sure basis for the reflection of theologians who wish to understand better the role of the Holy Spirit in the missionary activity of the Church. Let us hope that this remarkable contribution will receive the appreciation which it merits and will evoke an interest leading to further pneumatological research

“I came that you may have life and have it in all its fullness” (John 10:10). In this book, Revd Dr. Steven Underdown presents the paschal mystery—the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus—as the means by which the Son first realized that utter fullness of life which God had always intended for humankind. He also argues that it is only in and though the paschal mystery that human beings find their fulfillment. Only insofar as someone is open to be given in love is that person open to receive fullness of new life. The book explores some of the ways by which, under God’s grace, the church can establish patterns of life and worship which will enable growth into the paschal mystery. It focuses in particular on a weekly pattern of life established in various parish and monastic communities in which every week is celebrated as a kind of “Holy Week in miniature.” This pattern—termed the Pattern of the Week—is seen as providing a context for life-giving response to the divine initiative.

More than two billion people in the world claim some sort of relationship to Christianity. Despite the wide diversity represented in the New Testament literature and the wide diversity of practice, there is a basic gospel and proclamation that even ante-dates the written texts of the New Testament. As Paul expresses it “I handed on to you, as of first importance, what I in turn had received that Christ died for our sins. in accordance with the scriptures and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures ... Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim, and so you have come to believe.” (1 Cor 15:1-4, 11). This book provides the basic texts (with references to parallel texts) of this basic message together with reflections and prayers. In addition, there are reflections taken from the Fathers of the Church, which provide material for reflection and new insights into the Paschal Mystery. May those who read this book, praying and meditating on its message, be empowered to return to the simplicity of the original message - the gospel received – the gospel handed over – the gospel which you received and in which you stand, as will generations of Christians to come.

This book is written by Louis St. Hilaire and follows the USCCB’s framework for “The Mission of Jesus Christ.” It takes the reader through creation, the Fall of Man, and Christ’s Paschal Mystery to the reader’s own life and what Christ’s redemption means for them. The author lays out according to the USCCB’s framework the moral implications of the Paschal Mystery in the life of the believer and answers common challenges such as explaining redemptive suffering and why God allowed his Son to die on the Cross. About the series: The Formed in Christ series is a solid and faithful resource that provides a thorough treatment of the Catholic faith and the various branches of theology. Teachers may use this series to draw lessons for all core curriculum subjects in the USCCB’s doctrinal framework for high school level theology. Each book in the Formed in Christ series is written at a high school age-appropriate level and includes further reading from magisterial or other orthodox sources (ranging from the Church Fathers to books published within the last ten years), along with discussion and reflection questions. Also included in each book is a “challenges” section, which follows from the USCCB’s suggestions for apologetic topics for each course. The simple structure of the Formed in Christ series is meaningfully designed to allow teachers to build their own course or to use these books as a supplement. It means they can also be used by homeschoolers or religious educators, by the beginner armchair theologian, or by the college or high school student for independent or group study. The versatility inherent in these books means that they are not only for a high school classroom, but for anyone willing to put in the work to learn more about the truths of the faith.
